Goshen Democrats Celebrate Success!

September 4, 2026

The Goshen City Democratic Party celebrated its achievements of growth and  community involvement by hosting a Celebration Picnic on the evening of  Wednesday, August 19th at the Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship Memorial Garden. The  gathering was open to the general public, and more than 150 people participated in this event.

The weather was perfect for this outdoor picnic that featured free food, drinks  and live music. The menu included chicken sausage patties, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, and cookies for dessert. Shiny Shiny Black provided music for the evening.

Political Candidates Present

Candidates running for public offices attended this event and were available for one-on-one conversations. The focus was to celebrate the success of the Goshen Democratic Party, so there were no political speeches. Some of the candidates in attendance were Jamee Decio, running for United States House of Representatives; Michele Milne, candidate for the Indiana State House, District 49; Goshen School Board candidates: Cynthia Murphy, Sallie Landis Davis, Sandra McMasters, Loanne Harms; and Elkhart Township: Nora Chavez Morales, Kevin Peters.

Vision for Goshen

While the state of Indiana tends to lean toward Republican leadership, Goshen has had four consecutive Democratic mayors with clear visions and successful  ideas. These mayors, along with a progressive City Council have helped our city  develop strong school systems, an amazing park department and a thriving  industrial community.

The Goshen City Democratic Party is comprised of your neighbors, co-workers, and friends. It strives for quality education in our public schools, sustainable  growth for our industrial base, and safe neighborhoods for our families. The Party  believes that our community is strongest when everyone has a chance to  succeed, not just those at the top.

The Celebration Picnic was sponsored by the Goshen Democratic Party as a  sincere “Thank You” to everyone who has contributed, in some way, to the  successful growth of this movement. There is more excitement, enthusiasm, and  involvement than ever in the local Democratic Party. More candidates are running for office, volunteering their time and talents, and supporting the Party financially. Based upon the success of this event, there will be more celebrations in the future!
