Take Action: Redistricting is Undead

(URGENT) Take Action: Call Senator Blake Doriot and Representative Joanna King and ask them to oppose redistricting.

Last week it looked like the Republican effort to gerrymander Indiana was dead, but this week it has been revived.  In the face of attacks from their fellow Republicans, the Indiana House and Senate leadership have backtracked on their plans to adjourn until January.  The House will convene on December 1, and already has sufficient votes to pass new maps.  The Senate previously did not have the votes to pass it, but it was announced this week that the Senate leadership has reversed itself and will convene on December 8 to consider the maps that the House plans to pass next week.

Last we heard, Senator Doriot was planning to oppose redistricting, but given all the pressure he is probably under right now, it is urgent that we all let him know that we expect him to have the courage to stand up to the bullies and do the right thing for Indiana.

Even if you have already called about this issue, please call both Senator Blake Doriot and Representative Joanna King again, tell them that you are opposed to redistricting, and ask them to vote against any such legislation.

You do not need to go into additional detail if you don’t want to; simply registering your stance and asking them to oppose this is sufficient.  Their staff does keep track of these calls, and reports the pro/con numbers on each issue to the legislator, so they will be aware of the volume of calls on this.

This is still not a done deal. We can still stop this if we take action now!
