A Goshen resident of 28 years with a passion for helping her community, Sandra brings experience as a Latinx immigrant, having worked in manufacturing, and now as a social worker aiding patients in the mental health field.

Sandra came to the United States in 1998. After working for five years, she left the manufacturing sector because choose to focus on her children’s education. In the meantime, she got involved in the community by becoming the chair of the Reith Park Neighborhood Association, a member of the Community Relations Commission, and a member of the Community Coalition for Immigration Reform with a Path to Citizenship.

In May of 2019, she earned a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Goshen College. In May of 2022, she received a Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University. In 2023, ran for the Goshen City Council At-Large. Sandra served on the Elkhart County Board of Health from August 2024 to July 2026. And on the Maple City Health Care Center Board from June 2024 to May 2026. Sandra looks to represent the students, their families, and their teachers to best meet their academic needs.
